The oldest elephant ever was Lin Wang of Myanmar who died on 26 Feb 2003 aged 86, at Taipei Zoo, Taiwan. The average age of an Asian elephant is 60 years. Grandpa Lin, as he became known, carried supplies through the jungles of Myanmar for the Japanese army, during World War II. The elephant was 26 years old when he was captured and brought to Kaohsiung in 1947 and given to the Taipei City Zoo 7 years later.
